David Pyle is a seasoned fishing guide with over 30 years of experience navigating the waters of Northwest Oregon. Known for his deep knowledge of local fish species, habitats, and seasonal patterns, David provides clients with an unforgettable angling experience, whether you’re a novice or expert fisherman. David’s passion for fishing began years ago fishing for Pacific Northwest Salmon, Sturgeon, and Steelhead. He turned that love into a profession, developing a reputation for not only his fishing skills but his dedication to teaching and guiding others. His goal is to ensure every client has a successful and enjoyable day on the Columbia, the Willamette or the Pacific Ocean.

Whether you’re seeking the thrill of catching prized Chinook Salmon or simply looking to enjoy a peaceful day on the water, David Pyle offers a professional yet laid-back experience that promises to make every trip memorable.

David is a Licensed Fishing Guide/Outfitter in the state of Oregon holding a US Coast Guard Captains License and is certified by the Red Cross in first aid/CPR.

Guided Salmon Fishing Trips & Guided Educational Trips

To book a trip there is a two person minimum. The maximum number of passengers booked will never exceed four. Available dates are listed below in RED. If a “*” appears after a date it indicates that the boat is partially booked and you can contact me for the number of available open seats.

• March 15 – July 15: Columbia and/or Willamette River Seven hour guided fishing trip (rates below)
  • 2 or 3 Angler price $250 per person
  • 4 Angler price $1000. If your group is less than 4 and you want the boat exclusively the cost is also $1000.

  • Coho fishing is a flat $1000 with a maximum of 4 Anglers

• August 1 – 31: Astoria Buoy 10 (ocean optional): Seven hour guided fishing trips (rates below).
  • 2 Angler price $275 per person
  • 3 Angler price $250 per person

Guided Educational Fishing Trips 2026

• March 1 – June 30: Columbia or Willamette River: Seven hour guided fishing trip (Educational emphasis).
  • $250 per person with a two person minimum.
  • Dates available: See Available dates from Guided Trips above prior to August 1, 2026.

• Each trip is customized to teach beginning, intermediate or advanced salmon trolling techniques.
• Pre-trip phone interview to determine your fishing goals.
• Topics covered generally include: understanding fish behavior, bait vs. hardware, flasher choice, assessing where to fish, depth, how much weight to use, trolling speed, and how to prepare for a fishing trip. Every trip is adjusted to your level of knowledge addressing the needs of beginners to advanced fishermen. This is a fantastic interactive guided trip that combines strategy and demonstrated salmon fishing technique.

• All equipment is provided. The only thing you need to bring is appropriate fishing license, clothing, food, and drink.
• Purchase a Fishing License:
  • One Day License: One day ODFW Fishing License (make sure to purchase Columbia River Basin Endorsement in addition to the license). I highly suggest getting a printed license but if you purchase an electronic license make sure you sign into the app and verify your license.
  • Annual: Login for ODFW Annual Fishing License Catalog (make sure to purchase Annual Angling license, Combine Angling Tag, and Columbia River Basin Endorsement). If you purchase an electronic license make sure you sign into the app and verify your license and tags.
